Chart-topping salsa sensation Ray Viera comes to SOB’s on Friday April 24th for Salsa Groove. Born in Puerto Rico, Ray has toured the world bringing his “old school” salsa style to Mexico, South America, Europe and across the United States. SOB’s is excited to bring his passionate salsa style to New York City.
Growing up listening to the great "Soneros", such as Hector Lavoe, Ismael Miranda, Chamaco Ramirez and Marvin Santiago inspired Ray to incorporate these influences with his own vocal style to international success. Ray has worked with many of the living legends of Latin music such as Johnny Pacheco, Celia Cruz, Yomo Toro, Adalberto Santiago, Papo Lucca, Justo Betancourt, Eddie Palmieri, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Jimmy Bosch, Chino Nunez and many, many others.
Lead singer for the legendary Johnny Pacheco's Tumbao Anejo for years, Ray recorded his first album with producer Johnny Pacheco and with Jovanny Diaz and his Orchestra in 2002. Ray is considered by many one of the new generation of "Soneros" who can blend the traditional style of singing with their own, more modern, styles. Be sure not to miss Ray Viera, soon to be a living legend, this April 24th at SOB’s.
